Interview of Chris Hodgkinson
Written by the Estate Agent Today team
Chris Hodgkinson, Managing Director at HBB Solutions

Who are you and what does it say on your business card?

Well I rarely use them now! Chris Hodgkinson, Managing Director

What is HBB Solutions and what does it do?

We’re HBB Relocation Services Trading as HBB Solutions. Quite simply, we buy houses, lots of them, with cash.

What services do you offer and in what ways do you work with estate and letting agents?

We work with lots of estate agents up and down the country. From offering PX for new homes departments, chain repair to stop sales falling through and if they simply have a motivated seller who needs a quick, and perhaps off market sale we can do that too.

What makes your product different and how does it benefit agents?

If gives the agent the ability offer a guaranteed sale of every instruction they put to the market. For those properties that might have a chain below, the agent can offer  PX to generate more activity on the said property. And for the sales progression teams we can help keep chains on track if they collapse.

What is your greatest achievement in your current role and what made it so special?

We actually formally launched our PX department in 2016. Only 3 years later we transacted over 400 units in one year, buying over 50 in just one month!

What is the most satisfying part of your job?

Helping people and getting great feedback for the job we do!

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing estate and letting agents at the moment?

We all know that finding a buyer is relatively simple at the moment, but the biggest challenge appears to be getting through to completion.  Also, winning new instructions is tough, offering our product to potential vendors can give the agent a real point of difference compared to those agent that don’t offer this service.

What is your property prediction for the remainder of 2020?

Difficult to predict with certainty, but I expect the market momentum will reduce slightly towards the end of the summer months and prices with stabilize.

Country house or city apartment?

For me it would be a country house.

Trendy roof terrace or traditional English garden?

I prefer an English garden but maybe with a modern contemporary influence!

Would you rather be a free-moving tenant or settled owner occupier?

Definitely an owner occupier.

What is your favourite room in your home?

My kitchen with space to cook, eat and also relax.

Homes under the Hammer or Location, Location, Location?

Well I was once on Homes under the Hammer but for me it's definitely Phil and Kirstie.
