Staff at branches of franchise agency network Hunters have tweeted their good wishes to the company's managing dirctor Kevin Hollinrake, who looks highly likely to become an MP at the general election four weeks today.

Hollinrake is standing as Conservative candidate at Thirsk and Malton where he faces opposition from candidates standing for Labour, the Liberal Democrats, UKIP, the Green Party, the Liberal party and the Friendship Party.

In the 2010 election in the seat - held a short time after the general election of that year, as one of the original candidates in the constituency died during the campaign - the Conservative Anne McIntosh won easily with over 52 per cent of the vote, more than all her opponents combined.

McIntosh was last year deselected by the her local Tory party and replaced by Hollinrake; McIntosh stated her intention to stand as an independent this time round, but withdraw last month before nominations closed.

On Twitter (@kevinhollinrake) Hollinrake can be seen doing the typical candidate's rounds, canvassing at a local railway station and cafe and on one occasion picking up some campaigning advice from former Conservative prime minister Sir John Major.

Hollinrake started Hunters from just one branch in York in 1992. It then expanded in the so-called Golden Triangle area around Leeds, Harrogate, York and Wetherby, reaching 49 branches. Then in 2011 Hunters purchased the franchised branches of Countrywide's Bairstow Eves, taking the company name across wider parts of the UK, including London for the first time.

No announcement has yet been made on the future senior management of Hunters if Hollinrake makes it to Westminster.
