Agents using drones for photography have previously had uncertainty over the precise legal rights of where the small copters can and cannot be flown - now a new website is likely to add a little more uncertainty.

The site - noflyzoneuk.org - encourages home owners who wish to avoid the devices to register their properties, free of charge, as no fly zones.' As of the end of last week, there appeared only 10 properties that had registered; however, as their addresses were not on the site, drone operators only have a very large scale map of the entire UK to go on if they wish to comply' with the home owners' requests.

Our hope is that in allowing the public to request that their property become a no fly zone, then this will address the privacy concerns which have been mooted by the relevant authorities says John Tansley, who describes himself as the website managing director.

Tansley's statement launching the site says he has previously held a Top Secret (strap 2) post in the HM Forces and served six years in the Metropolitan Police. It also talks of how the site will be monitoring and recording drone traffic with the provision of a rapid drone intercept solution to prevent potential hostile drone incidents such as a terrorist attack.

He says the site - which looks likely to be selling insurance products for drone users in the near future - will be able to monitor and track all drone flights and share this information with the public.

He claims this will in fact help the fledgling drone industry, as it will address some concerns over privacy by allowing individuals to opt out' of drones flying over their property.

YOU MUST HAVE A CAA LICENSE TO FLY DRONES COMMERCIALLY.

Agents using drone for commercial work, i.e. estate agency images or video will be breaking the law if they do not use a CAA Approved Drone Pilot for their work. It is punishable by up to 5 years in prison per offence.

Agents should think carefully before using drones to promote homes.
