The war of words between portals shows little sign of abating with OnTheMarket hitting back at the latest Zoopla claim that the new site is attracting relatively few visits.

"The Hitwise figures which continue to be reported by Zoopla are inaccurate and demonstrate Zoopla's increasing desperation to reduce the number of agents who are removing their properties and advertising expenditure from them to list with OnTheMarket OTM chief executive Ian Springett told Estate Agent Today.

The new portal has still not released any public figures on its visits but Springett says in only its third week we have already overtaken Zoopla in certain spots of the country and insists the service is producing excellent leads for member agents.

He says he is confident OTM will become number two portal to Rightmove within a year.

Springett says in around 90 per cent of cases, OTM agents have removed listings from Zoopla. We have also been told by many that having removed properties from their less effective portal, it has become obvious just how many leads were previously duplicated.

He says feedback about the new portal has been overwhelmingly positive with its advertising campaign is attracting new member agents and consumer visitors.

Baaaabaaaaa. BaaaaaaaaBaaaaaa. Sure all the onthemarket.com followers will be pleased with this bit of positivity amonst all the bad news out there. What a load of rubbish.. One month in and still agents locally breaking the rules, homeowners not knowing what onthemarket.com is, and its agents losing jobs left right and centre!

Rightmove's lack of input into this childish slanging match speaks volumes, not that any of us were unaware of its lofty position in the first place.

But as touched on below, it doesn't seem Springett's claim that OTM will be second portal soon is that far off the mark...

Looking forward to seeing some data straight from OTM, hopefully we won't have to wait too much longer...

90% of agents dropped Zoopla well that's pretty damning isn't it.

Data out today says Zoopla has last 11% of its agent clients since January...

Maybe OTM will be the second portal within a year after all!

    oh, I'm back.
OTM, hmmmmm very ordinary site, but maybe that's no bad thing as a lot of consumers like 'basic'
anyhow truth is OTM will only succeed if it gets the large chains on board and I'm sure as soon as they threaten to leave Zoopla or rightmove, their favourable terms will get more favourable

What rubbish Mr Springer. In another news group you accepted that Zoopla was doing 97-100 times better. Wheres the few places your doing better. The odd village agent where there's no other agents.

OTM is falling to pieces already. Its a wrong and dated model. Best put Mr Springer back in his long gone portal days box - no idea
