Traffic to all the major websites fell in October, according to independent analyst comScore. The only exception was Zoopla, which recorded a 13.87% rise in unique visitors.

However, with 665,000 visitors, it is a long way behind unchallenged market leader Rightmove. The latter's traffic barely slipped (by 0.57%) to reach 3,142,000 visitors, more than double the next two contenders combined.

FindaProperty, in second place, was down 11.33% to 1,588,000 visitors – the biggest loser. Primelocation was down 1.09% to 1,178,000 visitors.

Propertyfinder, now owned by Zoopla, had a fall in traffic of 5.34%, down to 1,169,000 visitors.

Overall traffic to the top five property portals fell by almost 3% from 7.96m in September to 7.74m in October.

I hate Rightmove like a lot of you, however I do need to use them. I am opening my own office in jan and they have quoted me £535 + Vat per month!!! for sales only!!thats more than the rent on my office. The company I have just left in the same street are paying £360 + Vat for the exact same thing, their usual excuse? We are growing and our prices refelct that, you pay by the year you join!!! unfortunately for me nothing I can do! Arrrggghhhhh!!!!!

Fine words Gary, EA made rightmove and keep it where it is. Work together? Get real!! What’s happening in the real world? Cutting fees including HIPs, no change, brilliant business folk who just criticise success, the end for many just keep getting closer. You guys made rightmove stop moaning for heaven’s sake it was originally mainly your corporate competitors and you still piled into make it grow! Even now how many agents carry their brand to market for them? Genius rightmove you have to admit!

What is all this rubbish about.Rightmove are a parasite that feed off us Estate Agents for the product we provide them in the first place.
Continue to feed the parasite and it will eventually drain you of every drop of profit you make. They only care about making profit for their shareholder. They cannot grow their customer base any more so they now try and get more and more out of the customers they have.If that isn't the case their profits won't grow even more this year as they should be helping the hand that feeds them in these harder times.but have they! NO
Will they! NO Will they put their charges up again next year? YES
Rightmove is a great idea but nothing more than we as agents could do ourselves if we started working together and use our enormous collective strength to build our own website.

Alexa, comscore...they only have a small section of the world's computers tagged and then it is guess work as to who has actually visited these "supposed top sites." Alexa has the totally wrong info on our stats for our own property portal and I suspect the one mentioned in the article also has flawed data. The problem with these types of articles is that people believe these companies info is accurate. It is not. It is based on guesswork based upon visitors to sites and portals that were tagged by companies such as Alexa and ComScore. It could be that RightMove didn't lose any visitors recently, but only RightMove would know that from their own website analytics and if ComScore was wrong, they aren't going to shout it out are they?!
