A new environmentally-aware online mapping service has launched for the ultimate in location, location, location home hunters.
Mapumental allows you to input your workplace postcode and property budget and decide how ‘scenic’ the area should be. It will then draw a map of all the places you could live and get to work on time using a mixture of public transport and walking.
Moving the cursor on the map gives you average house prices for that particular area, the exact commuting times and the location’s scenic features.
Mapumental has been designed by mySociety, the not-for-profit organisation behind theyworkforyou.com and the Number 10 Downing Street petition website.
Mapumental will later expand to include a number of other factors such as Ofsted school reports, crime statistics and estate agents’ data.
Currently the site is being trialled by invited users only, but mySociety plans to make it available to the public.
