Figures released today by Moneypenny, who handle telephone calls for more than 600 estate agency businesses across the UK, show call volumes to agents increased by almost a quarter (23%) compared to April’s figures.

But when compared over the quarter, they show that the volume of calls to estate agents has remained largely static.

Joanna Swash, director of Moneypenny, said May’s figures were not as high as in March.

I have a little problem with this. What the story is saying indirectly is that Agents were 23% LESS ABLE to answer their own phones in that month than the previous.

Now, this is in a period where allegedly business is at an all-time low (certainly in the eyes of those who thought it a jolly wheeze to set up in 2000-2006 on the crest of a wave anyway...).

For many companies (certainly not just Estate Agents...), the "three ring" rule is non-existent - I find this to my annoyance daily. When the phone is FINALLY answered, there is not a shred of apology for letting it ring itself off the hook. Quite the reverse - the answerer is almost annoyed you kept ringing for so long!

But - what when things warm up again? Will Moneywhassit run out of waiting operators? Will THEY then have to sub out the work - to India maybe?

" Hello, Sir - how are YOU today?"

    Yippee - I can't wait... :o|

Totally agree Pbro......the last Money Penny thread on calls down a quarter in April left me amazed people thought April would be busy!

I was telling my vendors not to expect fireworks over Easter back in February. What surprises me is that it seemed such a surprise to others!

There will be a few others who will say "I/We told you so"

Too many people thinking 3 bank holidays and a royal weeding plus the only full month of sunshine was not going to effect the number of phone calls made to many industries in April................
