Two members of staff at the Property Ombudsman scheme, Mike and Maria Evans, are to go on a 463-mile trip by tandem to raise money for charity.

The pair will take in the entire Scottish National Cycle Route.

As a warm-up, they will be riding their tandem from Keswick in Cumbria to Carlisle, where the real charity journey begins at the offices of TPO members Cumberland Estate Agents.

They will finish at Inverness, travelling via the Dumfries and Galloway coast, through Ayrshire and then central Scotland, and are undertaking the challenge in aid of Help for Heroes and the Estate Agency Foundation charity, both of which are supported by Cumberland Estate Agents.

The Estate Agency Foundation unites the estate agency industry and its customers to combat homelessness in the UK.

Mike and Maria are searching for sponsorship support. The Property Ombudsman scheme has pledged to match every pound raised up to a maximum of £1,000 to be split between both charities.

“We are funding the entire venture ourselves, including all accommodation costs and commercial vehicle hire for us and the tandem,” said Mike. “Not so much as a patch for a punctured tyre will be subsidised from any sponsorship money that we raise.

“If member agencies want us to call by their offices along the route or to cycle with us to raise awareness of their businesses for a few miles in return for sponsorship, they can contact Stephanie Spencer on 01722 333306 to arrange it.”
