Despite the ongoing economic downturn, a mother and daughter have taken over the property arm of a Newcastle under Lyme-based legal and financial services firm, it has been reported.

Brown & Crobishley's estate agency will be renamed Locations by new owners Donna Brock and Derith Brown, who stepped in to buy the business after talk of shutting it down started circulating, according to the Sentinel.

Derith told the news provider that the current economic climate was the worst she had ever known as it is not just the property sector that is suffering.

Staff at Brown & Crobishley had been made redundant and its was down to her and her daughter to keep the property-side of the business open, she claimed.

"We made the offer to buy it in December in a terrible market, but as from January things have started to pick up," she added.

In related news, property prices have climbed for the second consecutive month, according to Rightmove.

Never mix business/pleasure or buy someone out when the country faces bankruptcy. A recipe for disaster.
