Hunters Property Group, the York-based independent, has opened its first office in Middlesbrough.

The move follows the decision by Middlesbrough lettings agency Family Rentals to join the Hunters network in order to provide a full range of estate agency services.

Ian Paterson, a partner in Family Rentals who now heads Hunters’ Middlesbrough operations, said: “We opened the lettings agency in August last year with the intention of moving into sales in due course. By joining the Hunters network, we have been able to do this about two years earlier than we expected.

“Hunters is a very forward-thinking business and we liked the way they do things. We also get the advantage of being part of an established and respected brand.”

Paterson, who has some 15 years’ experience of estate agency, said the new Middlesbrough team would initially include four other members. In addition, two new Hunters Personal home-based agents would be recruited as soon as possible, followed by several others over the next 12 months.

Hunters has also appointed Andy Pearse as its first Personal agent in Pontefract. He is an independent financial adviser iwill continue to operate his IFA business, Grove Park Finance, alongside his Hunters Personal agency.

“This means we can provide a one-stop facility for people’s home-related financial requirements,” he said.

I had the pleasure of dealing with Ian Paterson two years ago, when he sold a property for my firm. Enthusiastic, efficient, made no crazy promises, but - most importantly - performed. In short, everything that a good Agent should be. Hunters obviously know when they see a good thing, so I can only presume Mr Pearse exhibits similar qualities.
