This is what might be called estate agency for boys. It’s certainly a step up from those addictive (if you’re a man) or irksome (if you’re not) little helicopters that every home apparently has to have.

When the St Albans branch of Harrison Murray needed some photography to show off the high-rise location of a property (a ground-floor apartment in a development), they turned to gadgetry.

A pair of radio-controlled model helicopters carrying digital cameras were whizzed up into the skies above Napsbury Park, Hertfordshire.

Harrison Murray’s commercial director Nick Salmon, whose summer holiday this year will be spent visiting the Kennedy Space Centre, called in SKM Photography and Jolyon Bambridge whose expertise at remote control helicopter flying has led him to work on blockbusters including James Bond films. He also operated the little R2D2 in Star Wars – The Phantom Menace.

The trio did the job to masterly effect.

Salmon said: “We often use SKM to take photos of our properties from the top of their portable 15-metre mast.

“However, for this venue we needed to get even higher and so were delighted when SKM told us that they have these amazing helicopter camera platforms that can operate almost anywhere.”

Has any other agent used helicopters to take pictures of properties?

Helicopter photography? Classic example of outdated technology. We use satellite photography for every property - very 21st century. You should try it - it's called Google Earth... ;0)

Going the extra mile! being innovative! standing out from the crowd! Nah! It will never catch on.

Box standard, basic that is the way forward. Do as little as you can, blend in. You know it makes sense.
