Two estate agents in Kent have merged.
Calcutt Maclean Wood in Wye has merged with Edenbridge-based Fox & Manwaring, part of the Complete Land Management Group (CLM).
The agency will operate under the name of FoxWood Maclean, offering sales, lettings and management across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
The new agency will also have an association with Mulberry Cottages, a boutique holiday letting agency owned by Sarah Wood, together with CLM, the Land Management Company set up by Mark Weaver.
The FoxWood Maclean property team will be headed by Nigel Maclean and Sarah Wood who have both worked in the property industry for over 30 years, with careers starting in London.
Christopher Calcutt, a founder member of Calcutt Maclean, and Simon Calcutt, a previous director of Fox Manwaring, are retained as consultants.
Nigel Maclean, who with Christopher Calcutt originally set up Calcutt Maclean, said: “This is an exciting and positive evolution for us and we are looking forward to providing our tailor made independent services across a much wider area.”
Calcutt Maclean was one of the regional property firms acquired by Humberts in 2006 at the height of its expansion during the property boom.
However, Humberts’ multi-million pound acquisition trail hit the buffers two years later and, having grown to 88 offices and 700 staff, had to suspend its shares on the Stock Exchange.
Unable to complete on its purchases, businesses that had rebranded as Humberts were quietly handed back to their original owners.
FoxWood Maclean seem to have put all that behind them. The new business is looking to recruit, and plans new offices.

It’s a good sign that the market is returning when two well known and respected estate agents merge and have the courage to move forward at this difficult time. Good luck to them and I look forward to seeing their boards through out Kent, Sussex and Surrey .
