It is not often that an estate agent gets commended in court, so congratulations to ‘have a go’ hero Sam Woodward.

The Birmingham agent was praised after he tackled a mugger who had just knocked an 82-year-old woman to the ground and grabbed her handbag.

Woodward saw the incident as he sat in his own vehicle, leapt on the thief as he tried to get away, and held Benjamin Brown in an arm lock until police arrived ten minutes later.

Brown, 31, was jailed for five years at Leicester Crown Court, which commended Woodward, 33, for his actions.

After the case he said: “For someone to come up behind an old woman and throw her to the floor is cowardly. I was brought up to respect the elderly and I found what happened horrendous.”

Good for him, and congratulations.

Mind you, it probably helped that Woodward knew how to do things properly. Before turning to the property world, he was a doorman for four years.

    WELL DONE, Sam!

A brave and public spirited act that not many would have attempted.

You are a credit to society. You have my respect.
