A new business has entered the estate agency market, aiming to build up a network in the North-West.

Brothers Nigel and Ben Seabridge are behind NPS Estate Agencies, which has just made its first acquisition.

The brothers are serial entrepreneurs with, amongst other things, a highly successful background in recruitment.

The price has not been disclosed for the brothers’ purchase of Thomas C Adams Residential, a long-established firm with offices in Cheshire, the Wirral and North Wales, and which handles a variety of services including sales, lettings, surveying and financial services.

Nigel Seabridge was previously a divisional director in Felicity J Lord, the London chain that belongs to Spicerhaart.

He said: “We have a significant financial backing and are looking to open new estate agency offices or acquire existing estate agency businesses operating in the Cheshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Wirral and south Manchester belt.

“Our aim is to grow an estate agency network built on sales, service and innovation.”

Thomas C Adams will retain its identity for the time being, but will rebrand in the next three months.

Probably the worst estate agents I have dealt with. No concept of customer care, No concept of leading a successful sales force. They promote and fire on a whim. My house sale with Tomas C Adams (2013, 18 months into Seabridge control) was a farce, three different sales staff within 2 months, withdrew after a serial of errors. The property was sold within 1 week of being handled by a competitor. I have heard many people with the same complaints. I don't see them being around for 2014.

Maybe they have some new ideas and keeping quiet, but there would be nothing to worry any competitors in that realease I would suggest, quite the reverse!

Oh dear. I wish the brothers well, but this sounds very much like a Max Ziff led Humberts exercise. We all know what happened to THAT.

As for Thomas C Adams - rebrand it at your peril. They're very well known, very well established and very well respected. Are these brothers REALLY going to throw that away for an unknown and benign name like NPS Estates?

    I sincerely hope not.

One has to be careful not to run before one can walk fast aquisition and fast expansion is a recipie for disaster, even with backing one has to have the best team and staff. Good luck to them, but release the brakes slowly and dont get carried away in what can be described as corporate mode!
