First time buyers last month were up 68% on June last year, haart estate agents has said.

The firm says that total new applicants to its network of some 100 offices in June were up 29% on a year ago, but that stock is continuing to dwindle – down 5.5% year on year, and down 2.7% on the previous month.

haart says there is a chronic shortage of stock which has kept house sales subdued. The number of sales is up just 0.6% on a year ago.

The firm also says there is an average of 10.1 viewings per property for sale.
