Is there something in the water in Sevenoaks?

Last year, EAT reported on how Ibbett Mosely branch manager Ian Beagley was marking 40 years with the same Kent employers, having started with them as a 16-year-old junior.

Now we hear that Derek Hodge, head of their auction department, is stepping down (well, sort of) after 53 years with the firm.

He joined Ibbett Mosely in 1959 when it was known as Ibbett Mosely Card & Co, and says it has never felt like a job but more like an enjoyable hobby that happened to be remunerated.

Alan Crowe-White takes over as lead partner, although Hodge remains a partner and will continue to work part-time.
