Nearly 150 are signed up to the Great British Property Cycle in September.

The ride is in aid of The Estate Agency Foundation, which will distribute money raised to homelessness charities.

The Foundation says people are getting involved in all sorts of different ways from cycling to the office for a week to using static bikes in the office.

The event is sponsored by BriefYourMarket.com and The Property Academy.

Gareth Samples, managing director of BriefYourMarket.com, said: “It is great to see people signing up for this event. As there are no set routes or distances, you don’t need to be an experienced cyclist to get involved – it is open to everyone.”

The EAF hopes to match the 13,000 miles cycled last year, when a team of three cycled much of the length and breadth of Britain.

“This is a tall order,” said Peter Knight of The Property Academy and EAF director, “but with a bit of hard work, it is certainly achievable. Everyone that gets involved will be part of a great industry-wide event supporting charities that do really important work in all our communities.”

The EAF supports charities that work to eliminate the causes of homelessness throughout the UK. The three highest individual fundraisers will be invited to donate their sponsorship to a charity of their choice and the EAF will match the amount up to £500. The highest fundraiser overall will be given a bike up to the value of £750, donated by LSLI.

Agents that have already signed up include Lauristons, IAMSOLD, Gasgoigne Halman, Andrews, Bradleys, WortonKelly, Davis Tate, Maitlands, Lenwell Property Services, Your Move, Fine & Country, and Newmans. They are joined by industry suppliers Jupix, Legal4Landlords and Digital Inventory. There are people taking part from Cornwall to Cheshire.

The event is also being supported by ARLA, NAEA, my|deposits.co.uk, The Property Ombudsman and myhomemove.
