It’s that time of the year when agents come up with all kinds of incentives aimed at picking up more instructions.
Waterfords, with offices across the highly competitive Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey borders, has come up with a car which will be driven widely across its area before being given away in a prize draw in April to someone who has instructed the firm on either a sale or rental property.
The car is a white four-seater Volkswagen up! which was named 2012 World Car of the Year.
It sounds an expensive give-away, but Waterfords boss Brendan Cox thinks it should pay off.
He said: “Although this give-away will not transform the markets that we operate in, we are trying to encourage people to make the move that they want to but have perhaps put off, fearing the market is unstable.
“Although there is strong demand, there is currently a lack of supply.”

So lets get this right.
My incentive to instruct a second rate agent to sell or let/manage my most significant personal assett is that I will get entered into a "draw" along with every other one of their customers from the first four months of this year to then have probably about a 0.001 % chance of winning a cheap used car ???
