Eleven estate agents from across the country are going to be media stars this spring as a new six-part BBC Two TV show goes behind the scenes to show agents at work.

Under Offer: Estate Agents On The Job airs next month and is - according to the Beeb's publicity material - filled with drama, humour and vibrant personalities as agents combine market and location knowledge with the gift of the gab.

Predictably the show looks at the extremes of agency activity from a Mayfair firm with £39m apartments amongst it stock to a north east agent with repossessed homes making up almost a third of her inventory.

Perhaps the most important thing for viewers is to note that despite the title Under Offer this is most definitely not the spoof film of the same name made two years ago by London agency Douglas & Gordon.

That production showed two agents swearing and lying their way through a day's work. It was a cryptic promotion for D&G which was critically received by other agents but which did achieve one thing - massive volumes of free publicity.

The irony is, however, that D&G's Ed Mead is one of the 11 agents featuring in the new BBC show as well as one of the masterminds behind his company's same-name spoof.

    Are these agents completely mad!
T.V. and Radio 'shows' (note the word) are just that - shows and in my opinion and experience will not do the industry an iota of good.

This will be a very interesting show in my humble opinion. My personal angle on the show will be the repossessed homes and how the agents showcacse them to the potential purchasers. As many of you know we have strict instructions to our appointed selling agents to follow the vendors guidelines in terms of how the property is portrayed and marketed and it will be very interesting to see the agents in action. I have great faith in the way most of our appointed agents act and I hope it doesnt expose any shortcomings. All feedback welcome as always. kind regards, Mark Rothwell
