Property portal NeedaProperty.com is ramping up its efforts to attract more agents with the extension of a three month free offer to market homes on its site, following a sharp rise in visitor traffic.

The site, which launched in June 2012, says it has had over 1.8m direct visits in the past 30 days alone, well ahead of its usual rate of six million over six months. Leads sent to the 5,000 agents on the site increased 248 per cent over the past 30 days as well, it claims, making it the fourth largest property portal in the country.

The site is also launching www.needavaluation.com which aims to put vendors in touch with a range of local estate agents. Visitors feed in a postcode and are offered a range of properties on sale in that locality plus sale prices since 1999.

NeedaProperty.com founder Scott Green says the portal offers "a comprehensive alternative at a fraction of the cost of our competitors".

The portal's expansion may demonstrate that PR pays after all. This was the site that recently produced a survey of rude street names which received extensive publicity in national newspapers, on radio and online as well as here on EAT. The site says it now has "a multi-million pound advertising budget" for 2014.

    NeedAWho...
What's the point, really, what is the point. At least AM have had the good sense to take a huge run up and gain a word of mouth following along the way. This lot have been up and running for nearly 2 years and I don't know anyone thats heard of them.
I'm thinking of starting a property site called 'NeedAFreshIdea'. Come on, who's with me

I think wardy pretty much sums it up - not just for these guys, but for EVERY new site that pops up proclaiming itself to be "the answer".

They don't even know the question.

I've had the sales pitch, said no. Wanted all my bank details for the free trial, I said you can have them after the trial if it proves itself, they said no. Bye!

In the last 30 days I have had one direct enquiry from NaP, compared to one every hour or so from both Zoopla & Rightmove.

I have a block viewing this weekend with 23 viewers (oh God, it's going to be a nightmare) and not one single booking came from NaP.

They do have a USP, the Travel Time Search, which I think is a great idea, but they are not making enough of it.

I also like the fact that they default to Most Recent Listings, but maybe that's just me.

I really dislike the way that these guys have gone about their business.
They have had my listings for years and have not produced one single lead. Then all of a sudden a phone call to tell me they want to charge me. Then another to tell me that they have partnered with my software company (turned out to be nonsense) Some months later another phone call to put me on a free trial and then another to add me to the valuation website (with charges)
Who can be arsed with all that Sign you up first, worry about the quality later.

Mr Green appears somewhat delusional. Website is terrible and delivers next to nothing. Of course he has to give it away free - who is going to pay for it. Even at a fraction of the cost of larger portals it is not worth it. At least the big portals deliver loads of leads and massive audience. Wake up Mr Green.

    Hmmm... increase in traffic, huh

Wonder if it had anything to do with this, as seen on an email marketing company website:
"We planned and launched targeted email marketing campaigns to help Need A Property engage and drive more customers to their website."

To which Mr Green gave a glowing accolade.

Funny, innit, how those that claim to be the new 'Hovis' apparently need another new 'Hovis' to help them to do what they claim on the tin... ;o)
