Watford MenCap: The Rickmansworth office of Gibbs Gillespie played its part in raising thousands of pounds for charity by competing in the town's annual Pancake Day Race.

Watford Mencap who organised the popular event on Tuesday February 17 handed the Gibbs Gillespie team an honorary frying pan for its continued support of the traditional countdown to Easter. The race consists of a relay up and down Rickmansworth's High Street while the runners try to flip their pancakes without dropping them.

This year Gibbs Gillespie fielded separate boys and girls teams raising more than £150.

The staff swapped their suits for shorts and trainers and finished a very respectable second out of a field of 16 competitors drawn from local businesses.

Phillip Smith, senior negotiator, says: It is the seventh year we've been involved and it is always a superb community event. The weather this year was nice and sunny meaning the route of the race was packed with people cheering us and the other teams on. It was a lot of fun and collectively thousands were raised by the competitors for Watford Mencap.

Alzheimer's Research UK: Bradleys Estate Agents with offices in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset, has chosen Alzheimer's Research UK as its Charity of the Year 2015.

The UK's leading dementia research charity received a large share of staff votes and the company's 33 offices have pledged to raise a minimum of £300 each, taking the target to just under £10,000.

Over the next 12 months, staff will raise funds for pioneering dementia research through a series of fundraising ideas, from quiz nights and cake sales, to sponsored runs and even an adrenalin-fuelled sky dive.

The money staff raise will support vital research to bring improved diagnosis, preventions and much-needed treatments for dementia ever closer. There are over 830,000 people living with dementia across the UK, including over 78,000 in the south west says Jade Rolph, corporate partnerships manager at Alzheimer's Research UK.
