It's a long hot summer - sometimes a wet one, too - but agents are still helping those who cannot help themselves.

We at EAT and LAT hugely admire the often-unsung work by agents who donate energy, time and money to charity. We want to shine a spotlight on this side of agency.

If you want to be mentioned, please let us know. Email press@estateagenttoday.co.uk.

Great Ormond Street Hospital: Strutt & Parker has launched a new charity cookery book featuring 52 celebrity recipes by high profile actors, singers, chefs, politicians and sports people. Highlights of the book, entitled Food with Heart, include David Cameron's very own Italian pasta dish, Simon Cowell's cottage pie, Gary Lineker's lasagne and even Russell Brand's detox 'green breakfast' smoothie. Strutt & Parker has covered all the costs of the book's production and print so that every single penny raised from Food with Heart's sales will go directly to the charity. Local charities: Franchise owners and staff from Belvoir have so far raised thousands of pounds for local charities in 2014, completing fire walks, charity auctions, cycle rides, sky dives and many other exciting events. In the past the Belvoir network has raised money for Macmillan Cancer support, raising a total of £26,329.40 in two years, says Dorian Gonsalves, Belvoir's Director of Commercial and Franchising. However, for this reason in 2014 Belvoir is concentrating all of its fundraising efforts on local charities he says.

Ronald McDonald House: Surrey and Berkshire estate agent Adam Hesse is raising money for charity to thank them for helping him and his wife while their 20-month-old daughter was provided with life-saving treatment. In June this year Indigo suffered acute kidney failure after catching a particularly virulent strain of the E-coli virus. Adam and his wife Elisa were referred to nearby Ronald McDonald House - an independent charity which provides home-from-home accommodation, free of charge, to the families of critically ill children. MacMillan Cancer Support: Leaders has hosted a series of special auctions of children's artwork recently in aid of Macmillan, raising a magnificent £4,000. The auctions were held during July, following Leaders' annual art competition in which school children of all ages were invited to Create a Masterpiece for Macmillan' - a picture of anything in any medium with the aim of it being good enough to auction for charity.

Agents' Giving: Ball gowns and DJs will be the order of the evening when Agents Giving hosts its first ball on October 2 at the Marriott Hotel, in London's Grosvenor Square. Billed as an evening of celebration to recognise the stellar fundraising achievements for the charity this year, it will be another opportunity for the estate agent industry to raise money for good causes. It will be attended by its celebrity Patron, Phil Spencer, who will also be entertaining guests with his eclectic mix of anecdotes. Tickets cost £1,200 for a table of 10 or £150 per ticket, and for more details email info@agentsgiving.org.

Brilliant work agents, let's do our bit and one day people might not see us as the evil caricatures we're made out to be!
