The new private website that matches private tenants and private landlords will not be allowed to list on either FindaProperty or Primelocation.

Both portals belong in the Digital Property Group, which is part of the Daily Mail group.

upad launched last Thursday, with its chief executive claiming that its rental properties would all be listed on every major portal apart from Rightmove.

But a spokesperson for the Digital Property Group said: “It has always been our policy not to list private sales and rentals on any of our property portals. Therefore the claims made by upad in the article are inaccurate and their properties will not be listed on Primelocation, FindaProperty, HomesandProperty or FindaNewHome.”

upad has launched in London but the business plan is to take it nationwide.

The listing of private sales alongside Estate Agent instructions is certainly a topic for further discussion. There are as many private listing sites as there are Estate Agents Property Portals. Combining the two could provide a useful one stop point of presence. Count the number of Estate Agent boards and the number of Private Sale boards in any area. In the UK, most sellers prefer to use the services of an estate agent. Those who try and sell privately usually fail and eventually instruct an estate agent. Newspapers usually carry both private sales and Estate Agent properties so why not Property web sites? It would be interesting to hear the views of the Estate Agent community regarding this subject.
