EAT would like to congratulate the indefatigable people at Woods, in the west country, who raised £8,000 for charity at their annual black tie charity ball in Torquay.

The amount is to be shared between Macmillan Cancer Support and Help for Heroes.

The event, the fifth the firm has organised, was a sell-out.

A particular well done to organisers Joyce Sharpe and Sarah Thomas of Woods and to auctioneer Nick Wood, who sold off some great lots, including a footplate ride on a steam train.

Sarah Thomas said: “Although there is still money coming in and money waiting to be counted and verified, we have raised in the region of £8,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Help for Heroes to be split equally.

“These are such worthwhile charities and all the money raised will be going directly to the charities to help in their selfless work.”

We've said it before: gives a great name to estate agency.

VERY WELL DONE to all at Woods for their work to make a difference where it counts.

Unfortunately it will be mainly passed over by the majority - but two very worthwhile causes have benefitted nevertheless.

As to what the comment before mine - made by '????' - was relating to, is possibly one which we could donate to charity for hazarding a guess.

Should find a cure for ALL ills with the money that one would raise... ;0)
