The Home Inspector Forum has put itself up for sale.

The online board was a must-visit for all Home Inspectors and kept them informed as HIPs embarked on their choppy passage through Parliament, only to be later delayed and downgraded as the Labour Government reneged on one of its flagship policies.

Home Condition Reports were canned, and the forum charted the economic and human misery of those who had ploughed their life savings into training, only to find themselves cheated of jobs.

The forum also revealed the fortunes of the training providers themselves, including those that went bust and those that, disgracefully, kept advertising their courses knowing that the government had U-turned.

A year after HIPs themselves were dropped, the forum continues to attract regular daily traffic, almost exclusively from Domestic Energy Assessors, and there are some subscription-paying members.

The heroic Ryan Powell, who has held the forum together over the last few years, has told members he no longer has the time and resources to keep up with the admin involved.

He said: “I would ideally like to sell the forum to a group of members that would use it to benefit the community as a whole. We won’t be selling to any party we feel will use the forum to manipulate our members.”

    Life is far from fair.
Is there a forum for the tens of thousands who have lost jobs in the last few years through government actions?
    No. Move on.
