As we all know, estate agents often get it in the neck – so how nice to hear of one grateful person who wasn’t even a client.

The man sent the Gidea Park office of Beresfords in Essex a bottle of wine and a thankyou card.

The person concerned was selling through another agent, whilst Beresfords were selling his buyer’s property.

There were delays at the bottom of the chain and he wasn’t being kept informed by his own agent. However, every time an update was available, the Gidea Park branch would contact him to tell him what was going on.

The result? Everything finally exchanged, with one very happy home-mover who will undoubtedly sing this particular agent’s praises to a lot of other potential sellers.

oh dear, where is the estate agency business heading -

an agent does its job right and as it should and it makes one of the top stories on this website!?

The wine is a nice thought, Beresfords did a nice job, but for the love of god and all thats f*****g holy, this is what we are supposed to do! this is why the web wont kill us all off, this is why that Beeney chick and that whole private sale thing doesnt work.

Tony - you need to get a life as well as some agents who are useless. This probably comes down to not having good staff. I dont trust other agents to follow chains I and my staff do it as a matter of course. So many agents come out with the line 'non dependent' and when asked if there is cash the answer is they need a mortgage or they will rent their own. My response is well they are not non dependent otherwise they would write out a cheque. Good for Beresfords and how nice they got the recognition from the person in the chain who responded appropriately. I hope Beresfords will let the duff agent know they got the card and the wine and make them feel as bog as the full stop at the end of this comment.

This is an outrage! Surely it contravenes the data protection act / money laundering / property misdescriptions / health & safety...err... straight banana acts?

Well done, Beresfords! Rather than being above and beyond the call of duty, I am certain that this approach made the sale proceed more smoothly - and should be adopted by more. I, for one, am amazed by the total lack of contact from Agents I use to sell for me! Prime example of top-quality service which obviously gets recognition. I only wish they had a branch near me... ;0(
