Sotheby’s International Realty, now part of the Countrywide group, is maintaining its focus on the international market with the appointment of New Yorker Christine Peterson, pictured.

As head of referrals and international relocation, a newly created role, she will work with a global network of more than 500 Sotheby’s International Realty offices, which operate in 44 countries.

She will also spearhead new business development by focusing on corporate business relocations across the globe, particularly in the finance, law and media industries.

Petersen said: “The London and country estate markets in the UK remains an attractive destination to our customers, particularly with the favourable currency exchange rates.

“The global lifestyles of many Sotheby’s International Realty clients warrant the need for a seamless bespoke service offering. I am looking forward to providing our overseas and domestic clients with an international service.”

Countrywide last year took out a 25-year licence to operate the super-prime brand in the UK. It currently has only one office in central London.
