Rightmove yesterday launched a new mobile internet website.

The site enables Rightmove to target the rapidly growing smartphone mobile internet market and follows on from the launch of its iPhone app.

The mobile site is specifically tailored for smartphone handsets and features all UK homes for sale and rent that are featured on the Rightmove main site.

The site also boasts GPS functionality allowing users to pinpoint their exact location and map out available properties around them. Any saved properties can also be synchronised with an existing Rightmove account.

Miles Shipside, commercial director of Rightmove, said: “The mobile sector is growing into a key component of Rightmove’s offering. We have observed patterns of traffic during the summer months whereby on hot days our website traffic dips but iPhone traffic jumps, as people are home-hunting outdoors rather than inside at their computer.

“Home-hunters want access to Rightmove wherever they are, and now with the new mobile site, more people can search our properties on the move than ever before.”

The Rightmove iPhone app has had around 800,000 downloads. The new mobile site will now enable Rightmove to capitalise on the growing non-iPhone segment of the smartphone market. Smartphones account for just under 75% of all new handsets in the UK, and include the popular Android phone which has rapidly picked up market share on the iPhone in recent months.

The Rightmove mobile site can be viewed athttps://m.rightmove.co.uk or enter https://www.rightmove.co.uk on any smartphone device to be redirected.

Well price per month is regional, in bristol we dont price per week. so better for us. OR all our properties would look cheap also. BUT the new site does not work on my HTC touch HD. Rightmove blamed my phone DUH!!! I dont think so rightmove. I would agree DONT LAUNCH UNTIL IT'S READY - just makes you look, so bad.

I am getting loads of enquiries BUT THAT'S BECAUSE ON the MOBILE SITE ALL MY RENTAL PROPERTIES ARE SAYING PCM when it should be PER WEEK! So of course every property looks like a bargain.

RIDICULOUS!!! If Rightmove say they have had loads of leads it will be the truth, but all the leads will be rubbish.

Don't launch something until you're ready.
