Rightmove suffered its biggest ever drop in traffic during Andy Murray’s final service game.

Between 5.12pm, when Murray started to serve, and 5.26pm, when he won, traffic dropped off the proverbial cliff.

Murray’s drop shot meant that Rightmove visitors using mobiles were down by nearly half from its peak early that day, while website traffic dropped by a third.

Director Miles Shipside said: “Sunday was truly exceptional in terms of the impact of one single event.

“We saw something similar on Super Saturday during the Olympics, when in the space of an hour we saw three pronounced dips in traffic as people tuned in to see Jessica Ennis, Greg Rutherford and Mo Farah win Olympic gold.

“While we obviously congratulate Andy Murray wholeheartedly, we were relieved to see traffic levels return to normal within an hour of him lifting the trophy.”

The relief was also tangible in the City. Rightmove shares reached a new peak on Monday.

I realise the comment was tongue in cheek (I hope) but why would rightmove compensate anyone for this?
