Londoners believe they are paying too much to buy or rent in the capital – but they don’t want to live anywhere else.

Almost seven in ten London home owners (68%) disagree with the statement that ‘house prices in London represent good value for money’. More women (76%) than men (58%) considered London house prices a rip-off.

Similarly, nearly three-quarters of renters in London (74%) disagree with the statement that ‘the cost of renting in London represents good value for money’.

Renters who worked full time were most disgruntled as 80% chose to disagree with the statement.

However, over half of home owners and renters in London (54% and 52% respectively) agreed with the statement: ‘At the moment, I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in the UK.’

The research was carried out by YouGov, which questioned 1,228 London adults online.

London is currently experiencing a massive hike in rental prices, but surprisingly we are seeing more and more applicants and current tenants begrudginly paying the increase renewal price, and yet wages are not going up.
Something will have to give sooner or later!
