A former Liverpool prison is to have a new sort of inmate.

The Bridewell is to be turned into student accommodation after being sold at auction.

Formerly owned by Merseyside police authority, ithe  Grade II*-listed building and was the city jail for more than 130 years.

It was bought by Wirral-based company Students Lettings Point for £450,000. The company plans to turn the former cells into 100 student bedsits.
