More ‘Sold’ boards went up in March, says estate agency signs firm Agency Express.

It was the second consecutive monthly rise in the number of sale boards converting to ‘Sold’.

The firm says monthly house sales were up 23.2% in March following February’s rise of 38.3%.

Sold levels were also 4.8% up on March 2010 and 10.2% up on March 2009.

Each region saw an increase in sales ranging from a 47.8% rise in the East Midlands to 3.7% in Wales. Greater London sales rose 37.3%, while in the North-East they were up 36.4% and Yorkshire saw a rise of 32.2%.

Stephen Watson, managing director of Agency Express, said: “This latest set of data paints an encouraging picture for the housing sector.

“Not only has there been a significant uplift in new ‘For Sale’ listings and house sales, but the trend over the last two or three months indicates that this might be sustainable.

“It’s also noticeable that London is showing very strong growth in both the number of properties being put on the market and the number of sales that are going through.

“Traditionally this has then radiated out into the rest of the regions in following months. As all regions are looking in better health already, it bodes well for the coming months.”

    Dear S.B' C - looks like a 2 liner to me.

Anyhow glad to see I will be rushed off my feet in a couple of months time from the expanding London market just as we get into the holiday season. In the meantime we will have the royal wedding and easter to contemnd with so we should just shut up shop in the meantime and open in June/July when the rush starts.

    It's a fair cop, guv.

Joking aside, i'm all in for a functional property market. If transactions reach 70k+ and the main indices are showing sustained rises then i'll hold my hands up.

In the meantime, you get my pithy one-liners...

Sibley's...: Funny how the minutest of positive news is met by "Oh, yeah - they WOULD say that, wouldn't they..."; yet if prices 'seasonally adjustedly' drop by fourpence in a quarter you moisten your trolleys with excitement?

Come on, mate - let us who deal in property at least have a minute of gratuitous satisfaction on the basis that "we told you so" - the market is FAR from dead...! ;o)

Well, you've got to have the office junior earning his keep somehow. Plus, this'll be music to that arsonist's ears...
