Housing minister Grant Shapps has said that Communities and Local Government will publish a housing strategy document in October.

Answering a question in the House of Commons, he said it would set out the Government’s overall approach to housing policy.

He also said that a forthcoming consultation on planning would cover all forms of development, including planning.

How about trying to stop propping up the housing bubble, letting prices fall so future generations can get on the housing ladder.

So no to these shared equity or ownership schemes which just waste tax payers money to keep newbuild prices artificially high.

The private housing market sector needs to be straightened out. The massive imperfections in the market need reducing and we are all waiting for the sitting Government to accomplish this. Suspending HIPs didn't do it.

Until a successful new policy arrives, it's probably more of the same and until then the economy will continue to suffer.

My question is, can we wait this long?
