Foxtons opened a new office in London at the weekend, weeks after reporting a loss of £218m in its latest accounts. A second opening is scheduled for May, and both new offices are the start of rapid expansion.

The firm seems set to put its troubles behind it, insisting that trading conditions are now excellent. Both of its new offices are in north London. the latest opening is in Temple Fortune while a North Finchley office will launch in May, and bring the total network up to 26 branches.

At both new branches, Foxtons is offering 0% commission to customers for the first three months. The firm says it plans to open "many" new offices in the near future.

I hope commission rates don't go below 0% - although I'm sure vendors would like them to!

How can Foxtons be allowed to open new branches with a deficit of £218 million owing to Banks, let alone be allowed to only have a 0% commission rate, who do they think they are ? Why have they been allowed to conduct themselves in this way?

The National Association of Estate Agents have not said a word about this 0% commission, which is not good for all the Agents within the areas they are opening new offices. What sort of message does this send out to the public ? To me it is sending the message that Estate Agents are unprofessional, and their fees are more than negotiable.
In this present climate, Estate Agents Fees are the only fees that keep on coming down, how long can Fees keep on coming down ? Expenses are going up all the time and just because Foxtons want to throw more of the Banks money in the Dustbin, they should not be allowed to practice business in this manner, Do they have to offer 0% because no one likes them and thats the only way they can get instructions. It is not surprising after their antics with the renewal fees on lettings which affected all us hard working Agents.
You know what Foxtons your the Millwall of Estate Agents, with the attitude "No one likes us - we don't care".
Well I do care, and your business practices ruin it for everyone else, and give the public reason top continuously dislike Agents.

    Up yours Foxtons.
