Property Place, the Facebook property application, has a new feature which will allow an estate agent’s properties to be sent directly to a user according to their lifestyle.

The Search & Match software will enable a Property Place user’s Facebook data to create an interactive ‘life map’ which will match their lifestyle, interests and routines to suitable property listings.

It will also appear on their newsfeed and allow users to be able to share properties with their Facebook friends. Users will be able to search for property based on the locality of friends and family.

Search & Match can engage with Facebook users according to key lifestyle changes that are likely to cause them to move home, such as when someone gets engaged.

The technology captures everything from the user’s Facebook profile, such as where they work, where they live, and places they are checking into. Users can also add their favourite locations such as the gym or friends’ houses, if they wish to live close to them.

Property Place connects likely sellers, buyers and tenants to local estate agents without them having to search for property. For example, if a user of Search & Match’s Facebook profile status goes from single to engaged, then the software would be able to recommend an estate agent’s properties to a potential customer based on their lifestyle change.

Sohail Rashid, chief executive of Property Place, said: “Property Place offers today’s consumer a more personalised, local and relevant lifestyle search tool.

“We have pioneered the creation of new technology on Facebook, and we see the use of tailored, interactive lifestyle maps as the future of property marketing.”

One problem for many agents is that they do not use the partner software, so will face charges.

I am not prepared to pay good money to advertise alongside other agents when they get the service for free just because they use poorer yet more expensive software than I do.

If PP want more agents on board, then they should consider this because I would feel ripped off paying for a service that others get for nothing and they should also try different tactics when cold calling agents on a constant basis.

I'm not sure what agents you have spoken to but I would be happy to run through the key stats to date and discuss the lead generation aspect of our business.

Please do email sales@prop-place.com with your contact details.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

@property place executive " that is generating seller and landlord leads" not one agent I have spoken to is getting any leads from your site! I too would love to see an innovative site do well and generate business for us. But until you can actually produce enquiries and some from off proof that you are then you should not be stating facts that you are. Especially when you are using this as a basis for requesting agents to pay you money

Thank you for your email Lucy.

Property Place is the first application that is generating seller and landlord leads from Facebook. The leads are Facebook users who have said that they thinking about selling and renting their property, we will have contacted them due to a lifestyle change or trigger point. We then connect them with local agents on our platform. We do not sell the leads.

Please do email sales@prop-place.com if you would like a call to discuss this further.

Got to agree with Wardy. Facebook may well be big, but it is not for searching for property, or cars, or insurance, or white goods, or any number of other things.

Yes it has a use, and should be in the mix, for building relationships, not for selling.

    @The Commentator
I disagree. If anything facebook for advertisers is something that could well go pop. Companies like GM are the first to stand up and say they are just not getting a return for their spend.
Companies need to realise that although widely used, facebook is not a gateway to the internet . People just don’t use it in that way.

Facebook is actually a powerful search tool - used very widely in the USA as a first port of call for many people wanting to search for something, from plumbers to electricians, hardware stores, estate agents, light fittings... Get the picture?

Why is it used so widely you ask? Because it is always open on the searchers computer. Many people log in to their Facebook account at the beginning of the day and leave it open all day for periodic checks whilst they work, play, chill, do housework etc etc.

The bonus of searching for a product or service via Facebook rather than Google is that you get a better feel for the 'people' behind the business through their Facebook Page. People buy people at the end of the day. If you feel you know a bit about the people, like them, and trust them, then you're more likely to do business with them. Fact.

I am NOT connected with PP in any way whatsoever, before anybody asks. I simply know a fair bit about social media for business.

Interestingly, I am currently working with a Canadian company who assist me to rent advertising space on many websites, they fill the rented space with ads, and we share in the profits. It enables me to drive traffic to my website too. I pay to advertise my website, but have an income generator also. It's proving easy, fun, and profitable for me. It may not be for everybody. But it works for me and my business.

Social media integrated with advertising is here to stay.

@ PP Exec, how many leads are u generating and how much are u selling these leads for? Also - how can u qualify them as leads or are u just going to push 100's of random email address and telephone numbers at agents and hope for the best???

No this is not for private sellers. As you will see from the application "Is Your House on Facebook" is used to help generate seller and landlord leads.

Every Facebook user that uses our application will be prompted to tell us if they are looking to sell or let their current property. We will then help them connect to local estate agents in our network.

I can't really see the point of it when already paying for portals etc which has the same info.

The best thing we use to drive traffic to our Facebook and websites is www.growthmail.co.uk and the same company also looks after our social media sites. If i'm going to pay monthly for something it has to give me some differentiation from my competition.

    Property Place Executive

Do you intend to open this up to private sellers?

I'm probably missing the point - It's one of my failings - In my early years I sometimes thought I lost the plot a bit, but in later life, I realised I'd lost the whole bloody library. Houses tend to sell themselves, or, not as the case may be.
It's getting the instructions that's the tricky bit.
This Facebook thing has more users than all the local newspapers put together.
Some sellers will be swayed by the agent that lists here - simple.
And, no, I'm nothing to do with these people - just a recently retired G.P. residential surveyor / agent.

I have no issue with any new portal, ultimately if they provide leads they are worthwhile. The next question is then, does PP provide worthwhile leads? Yes or no is the debate............................

Thank you for your suggestion honest agent.

We have and will continue to share feedback and success stories from agents using our service.

Meanwhile, as you will see from the video you can try this service for free yourself, please email sales@prop-place.com if you wish to be contacted about this.

There are some fair points being made here.

Providing written testimonials from agents is a great opportunity for property place to demonstrate that it is worth subscribing to.

I have a busy lifestyle. I enjoy running and Liverpool. What type of property would suit my needs?

    • 02 July 2012 08:07 AM

Yes that is a very good question, hopefully Someone has????

Facebook is good for social media, but it's not a search engine. IMO if someone is searching for something then they will search via google.

Similarly, no one uses google plus, because google is deemed a search engine
