Good luck to the eight-strong team from Bridgfords in the North-West who are undertaking the Three Peaks challenge to raise money for The Christie cancer treatment hospital in Manchester and the NSPCC.

They are regional manager Andrew Bailey, branch managers Simon Clark, Carly Holt and Alan Cooper, financial services consultants Chris Austin and Paul Barratt, and negotiators Martyn Baynes and James Dodd.

The team is aiming to raise £2,000 altogether by climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) within a 24-hour period.

The challenge starts at the bottom of Ben Nevis at 5pm on Friday and will finish at the bottom of Snowdon at 5pm the next day.

The distance walked will be around 25 miles, the height climbed is around 10,000 feet, and the distance to be covered between the mountains is some 450 miles via car.

Sincere thanks to people like these who step forward to try to raise funding for worthy causes such as these.

You have my admiration, and I hope that the publicity brings both the cause and the individuals concerened well-deserved rewards.
