Congratulations to the winners – and now let the public have their say!

With some very deserved agents basking in glory after last week’s Estate Agency of the Year Awards, the race is now on to see who can rise to the challenge at the ESTAS, the next industry awards on the calendar, taking place in April.

Whereas the Estate Agency of the Year Awards are judged by a panel of industry peers, the ESTAS are awarded purely on the feedback received from thousands of customers across the UK.

“At the ESTAS we take a very different approach,” says Simon Brown who runs the awards scheme.

“We believe customers (sellers, buyers and landlords) are in a unique position to assess the performance of their agent, especially in the area of customer service which is always the single biggest gripe of the public when asked about their agency experience.”

The ESTAS involve agencies inviting clients to rate their service by completing an online questionnaire. Using a formula which takes into account score averages and volume of votes, competing agents are ranked in 15 regions around the country. There are also national categories for larger chains.

“Our formula makes it pointless for competing agents to cherry-pick best clients if they want to win, and the vote audit, which takes over two months to complete, ensures that any ‘rogue’ votes are identified and eliminated,” says Brown.

Voting is open now and runs until the end of February, so it’s the perfect excuse and the right time to contact 2011 clients and ask them for their feedback. The ESTAS are also open to suppliers to the industry.

So the gauntlet is down! Are those agents judged the best by their peers regarded as the best by their customers? We’ll see!

The ESTAS are sponsored by Zoopla in association with HomeLet, Endsleigh Insurance and the RICS.
