Nat Daniels: EAT goes to the races

Monday 20th June 2011

Last Friday the whole EAT and LAT team descended on Ascot for a wet but thoroughly enjoyable day.

With everyone coming in in their finery we started early in the office with bacon sarnies and champagne……that’s just how it happens here. That really got the party started but with the 4 hour journey to get to Royal Ascot we needed to keep the momentum. So a quick stop off at the pub (for some Sambuca's - yes some really did ) and raiding the booze in the boot managed to keep the atmosphere going.

Despite the fact that it took us 4 hours to get there we eventually managed to find Rosalind and her husband amongst the revellers. We pitched up with our chicken legs, bottles of Pinot and cans of Fosters and got busy with the form. Fortunately many of us took two shirts with us but actually I had a result on my (almost) namesake Nathaniel romping home at 2-1, not that exciting but at least I won. I would have done better to put a few pounds on the horses with fake tan as they were really fantastic! High heels, rain, mud and plastic wine glasses all brilliant stuff. The only way is NOT Essex, as Ian Dobrin (Essex boy can testify).

A great time had by all, a regular event in the calendar now.
