Letting agents are reminded that today the existing gas safety laws change.

CORGI is being replaced by a new Gas Safe Register, which is to be maintained and enforced by the Health and Safety Executive, as the official industry stamp for gas safety.

Agents and landlords need to check that anyone carrying out work on gas appliances or flues is registered under the new Gas Safe Register.

CORGI registrations no longer carry any weight as from today, and despite little publicity, there is no grace period. Agents with long-term contracts with contractors should check that they are registered as of today with the new scheme.
