We’d be interested to know what agents are doing about VAT.

Chesterton Humberts, for example, is freezing VAT at 17.5% until February 28.

The firm will pay the extra 2.5% themselves, as long as sellers instruct the company as sole agents at their standard commission rate and contracts are exchanged on or before April 30.

Robert Bartlett, Chesterton Humberts CEO, says: “We want to give property owners considering selling a bit of motivation. With prices rising across the board, we want to do what we can to minimise the pain.”

Forget the 2.5% saving - Chestertons are offering 1% fees in our area!! Good advert though - fair play!!
