A new web-based iPhone application, which locates property for sale and
rent by utilising the user’s current physical location, has been launched in the UK. It requires no download.
Propertynearme.com works by using ‘location aware’ technology built into the iPhone and is one of the first apps to utilise the geo location functionality of the iPhone.
The site has comprehensive listings supplied by Nestoria. Last week it launched in the UK, German and Italy, and today it launches in Spain. An Australian version will be next to launch.
Propertynearme has been developed by mobile developers Internetics, whose director Clive France said: “The application is very easy to use and is a dream come true for property hunters.
“I was driving through an area a few months ago, liked it and thought: wouldn’t it be useful if I could simply click a button on my iPhone and see what property was for sale around me.”
The site is available immediately and is free to use.

Breakthrough as new mobile phone app launches

What's with all the Right Move love on here? Anyone on here who doesn't work with Right Move? What's wrong with building competition? Eddington - you're wrong - this is web based - with rightmove you have to download an app.
its hardly a breakthrough as rightmove were the first to implement this technology into an app and naturally it comes back with the best results as they have the most property available. It also might come as a surprise that the app is free seeing as though most other things rightmove do arent
This is far from a 'dream come true', and hardly a breakthru. If you asked a potential buyer what's the biggest barrier to a nee Market, mobile access isn't at the top of the list. But rather availability of mortgage, and why would they want to buy in an unfamiliar area in the firstplace. Most portal ads are out dated or spammy ads anyway, as the agents can't afford the expensive portal ad/sync fees. Let's not forget that although iPhones are popular, they still only have a minute share of geo&web enabled devices.
What a great prospecting tool , out on a val , see what else is in the area doorstep and get your hands dirty. Add in a great tool like Vizzi and the RPS software and no poorly priced appraisal is safe
I like it. A lot. Smooth too; clunky it ain't. As for Rightmove, they're using Nestoria data so it is all the other portals combined. Rightmove isn't the be all and end all.
Will fail unless it uses Rightmove, poor "clunky" site, limited property content.
