Although experienced negotiators are key to any agent’s success, most employers also like to bring on trainees. If you are looking to recruit, an apprenticeship scheme might be of interest.

Bloom – which charges agents nothing – sources young people looking to enter the industry and, subject to them fulfilling the criteria set by the Government, they can be offered a place on the 26-week course.

Successful apprentices have their CVs sent out to agencies looking for a trainee who can then hold interviews. Once the agent has chosen and offered employment, the apprentice’s place on the course is reserved.

The apprentice is employed throughout the 26 weeks by the agent at the government-set hourly rate of £2.50, although additional commission can be offered at the discretion of the agency.

During the 26 weeks, the apprentices spend 5/6 weeks in one of the Bloom academies currently in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool, being taught the NFoPP Technical Award in either Residential Sales or Lettings/Property Management.

Both consist of four units, each one followed by an online exam.

The remaining 19/20 weeks are spent in the employer’s office gaining valuable practical experience and attaining a Level 3 NVQ.

The agent’s obligations are to employ the apprentice at £2.50ph on a 38/40 hour week and to offer them support with their training.

The scheme is entirely government funded, and apart from the £2.50ph salary paid directly to the apprentice, it costs the agent nothing.

FBA shall we ask TFW to be best man?

Actually that's a rubbish idea, can you imagine the speech? There wouldn't be a joke in sight!

Wow, it looks like we have a relationship blossoming here. Well you clearly both already have a lot in common:

    1) You are both agents with nothing to do with your time

    2) You both like crap jokes

I can hear the bells ringing already

It's not even funny friday yet.. How will this guy (tfw) cope?

    I had a trainee once,
I asked her what is half of 8?
    She asked "horizontal or vertical"?
"What do you mean"? I enquired

"Well" she said, "if its horizontal it 0, and if its vertical its 3

Fun Boy Agent, a classic example of my first comment. As I'm sure every other poster on here will agree, you are just simply not funny. It is quite sad to witness such delusion.

    Hmmm,

    TFW

Was it you who tried to use 'MYPENIS' as your computer password and we all fell on the ground laughing cause on screen was error,

    "Error. Not long enough."

You could do with going on a course for spelling.

I hope they teach internet browsing skills and comedy as most estate agents seem to spend their whole day posting on here, trying to be funny.
