National property auctioneer Auction House has recorded its most successful year after selling over 1,000 lots.

Founding director Roger Lake said: “We were already aware that the number of properties we’re entering into our auctions put Auction House in the top four most prolific auctioneers in the country.

“But the real mark of any auctioneer’s success is the number of properties they actually manage to sell. And in anyone’s book, over 1,000 successful sales in a year is a phenomenal achievement.”

Last year, only two national property auctioneers broke through the 1,000 lots sold barrier, and there are expected to be just four companies achieving the same feat in 2010.

Auction House’s national total of 23 auction rooms means that the brand has more sales sites across the UK than any other auctioneer. Its latest office in Leicester held its first auction this month, and new auction rooms are now being launched in Northamptonshire and Sussex.

Lake said: “It has been nothing short of an incredible year for Auction House. We have seen rapid growth in lot numbers, a success rate often over 10% up on our regional competitors, and our achieved prices usually 10% above those delivered in London auction rooms.

“We put our success down to the fact we hold local auctions run by substantial estate agents who know their area, and market auction properties to their residential applicants as well as a register of auction buyers.

“By comparison, other major auctioneers hold centralised auctions and mainly sell to London trade buyers.”

    This is a tad misleading.
1000 lots sold by 23 estate agents/auctioneers is only 43 lots per estate agent/auctioneer per year. Any decent auctioneer would do that and more in one sale!
