A new competition has been launched to encourage NFoPP members to promote the PropertyLive website.

The most successful will win either an iPod or an NFoPP training course of their choice.

In a message sent out to members, the PropertyLive team says that the site has been set up to help them reduce marketing costs and increase the online exposure of their properties.

“For PropertyLive to deliver on these goals, we are asking every agent to do all they can to increase awareness of PropertyLive.co.uk

“It is the overwhelming support that agents have given to other major portals that has taken them to where they are today; PropertyLive needs that same level of support.”

The competition will run over several months, with the first prize draw on July 5.

To enter, agents have to send in evidence of their use of the PropertyLive logo, including on their websites, letter heads, shop windows and newspaper advertising.

Boyd doing a deal with Google would be like owning a full Clarice Cliff dinner service and flogging it at a car boot sale. What would seem like a right result initially would soon turn out to be a mistake.

You are not wrong about giving PropertLive market edge but 24 hours would be my suggested minimum.

Mandatory promotion of PropertyLive does sound draconian but that is only short term objection. Once agents see the potential of Propertlive I really do believe they would be proud to boast about it.
A share issue to Fellows might cause some interesting discussion and as for the competition being a long way ahead. What happens if there has been course change and them that are streaking ahead haven't noticed. Allan Williams will tell you all about not recognising what you have got till its gone.

The NFoPP web site has been poorly planned and terribly marketed especially to its own users. The bloody thing didnt work for well over a year before anything was one about it. Basically it was a good idea however the competition are so far ahead in every aspect it looks positively amateurish in comparison.

Robert: (yup - it's me again...) I actually agree with what you say here!
NFoPP have an uphill struggle with PropertyLive - both with the public AND with their own membership. The latter is patently obvious by the p***-poor take-up on the site to date. It will never gain credibility unless taken seriously first by the uploaders.
But - is a competition the right way to encourage? I suppose that a carrot is better than a stick, especially where Agents are allegedly hungry for reward - but this is poorly executed and as can be seen here, taken as a joke. Maybe the NFoPP should consider making listing on PL website a mandatory part of membership - even if it is just under the 'Find A Member' section? I note only TWENTY-FOUR members in a 10-mile radius of Newcastle upon Tyne - this is absolutely ridiculous (but then so is the rigmarole involved to actually FIND A MEMBER using the darn website in the first instance...)
Proves a point - that most just want a couple of letters behind their names on their business cards for 'credibility', and care not a jot for the cause. One of the reasons I left...

This is just another load of nonsense from NFoPP and PropertyLive, it will do very little to promote PL.
For years now I have pointed out that Rightmove has attained its current position mainly by the 'free' voluntary advertising by the agents themselves.
The only way now for PL to become a reasonable success is for it to be made a condition of membership to promote/advertise PL on the majority of their advertising and printed material (evidence can be supplied as PL suggest, but at membership renewal).
Draconian & contentious? Yes, but in my view it is now the only way. After all, at the moment, membership is free!
    Worth a thought?

I don't think you ought to mock the attempt to ask agents to back PropertyLive.

I have already made my thoughts known about the future of Propertylive on another thread. The responses to that thread and any other which touches on Propertylive shows that there is a problem there which isn't going to be resolved by an iPod or a free NFoPP course.

The email that I received about this was signed "The PropertyLive Team" I think knowing who the Propertlive team are would be a good start but moreover a competition to name the Head of the PropertyLive team is worth an iPod in its own right.
With no-one apparently in charge there is no-one to congratulate and no-one to complain to, as a commercial project that simply does not make sense.

Why doesn't Property Live just do a deal with Google to provide the content to their local search service?
And do it with 60 minutes notice over all the other portals. Speed to lead will win. Google can force its own results to the top.
    Send the Ipod to....

I reckon the publicity on this thread will actuall get them more publicity than the free bic! Lets see if we can get this thread to 100 posts of ideas for a free prize. My suggestion is a free bowl of toenails.

An IPOP? Woweee! where do I sign up?

This is almost as tempting as a free BIC when you buy Over 50's Life cover.

Maybe this is reverse marketing, come up with something really stupid just to get a long thread going on EAT
