Sequence is looking for 50 young people across the UK this year to become apprentices at its 11 branded agencies, in one of the largest training programmes in the industry.

This follows the success of last year's apprenticeship programme at the London Sequence brand, Barnard Marcus. Seven people aged from 16 to 24 joined the company 15 months ago and are now working in branches across the capital as full-time staff.

During their apprenticeships they worked four days a week in administrative, lettings and sales positions in branches - mentored by their respective local managers - and on their fifth day each week spent time studying for NVQ qualifications as part of the Government Apprenticeship Scheme.

Sequence comprises over 290 branches operating in sales, lettings, mortgages as well as land and new home services; it also offers a nationwide asset management service and is the UK's largest residential property auctioneer. The 50 new recruits are likely to be spread across the full range of the group's activities.

In addition to the Sequence 50 graduates, another 10 apprentices will be recruited to work at Barnard Marcus.

This is good news for graduates but why ask them to study for a worthless NVQ when they already have a degree.
