The RICS has announced its next question time event for members, agents and other residential sector professionals.

It is in Reading on April 9 with others later in Newcastle, Leeds, Birmingham and Nottingham. Each will be free and last about 90 minutes, chaired by RICS president Michael Newey and featuring residential figures from the local region.

Each event's panel of experts will discuss the future shape of the residential sector, its likely regulatory and legal challenges, the creation of a high quality rented sector and how to create a housing supply that meets the needs of future generations.

The question time sessions are being held by the institution to help formulate future policy.

The first session, held last week in Manchester, attracted the rather modest total of 50 people but covered additional issues including how to define an affordable home', different regional effects of the government's Right To Buy scheme and how to revitalise town centres.
