Q: What's different about the site
A: ReviewMyPad is brand new portal that puts the house-buyers in the driving seat a bit more and helps to make estate agents' job that little bit easier. We are creating a community of house hunters who are helping each other out by sharing reviews and insight about properties they have viewed, but discounted, for various reasons. We believe its the first site of its kind to offer reviews on residential properties for sale.
Q: Won't that just be a forum for negative comments
A: We hope not - we want to bring a bit more honesty and transparency to the process, but also make it a bit more fun for people. Buying a house is a serious business though, and we think our community welcome and value the comments of other house-hunters, when it comes to making a decision about whether or not to view a property, or move to a particular area. Just because a house isn't right for one person or family, it doesn't mean it's not perfect for someone else - we encourage people to cover good and bad points in their review, to ensure that the community gets a full picture
Q: Are you trying to compete with Estate Agents
A: No! We are just trying to help people make more informed choices about the houses they choose to view, and get a buyers opinion, rather than just that of the agent or vendor. Its more about the practical things and the smaller details, for example, what the noise levels are like, does the property need lots of redecoration or refurbishment, is there plenty of storage space, what are the transport links like, is it in a good catchment area for schools, etc. In fact, we encourage agents to make their own comments and post reviews too!
Q: What are your long term goals for the site
A: We want to try and grow our community as much as possible, and welcome reviews from house-hunters, residents and agents. We believe that we do offer a valuable service, and we can help people get more insight about properties, which in turn makes it easier for them to select which ones to view. On average, people view 10 - 15 properties before they buy - wouldn't it be great if we could half that number! ReviewMyPad also offers lots of tips and advice, so we'd love it to become the go-to site for property reviews and advice.
