An independent agents' review site set up to help clients choose the best agents to act for them in a move or letting is seeking agents to build online profiles and list properties.

checkanagent.com is free and allows agents to upload property details and/or create their own details of services and costs on offer, plus contact and social media details.

The people behind the website, based on the Isle of Wight, says each branch registering is given a secure management area' where they can upload their agency logo, staff profiles and company photos.

Any verified user of the branch's services, whether through buying, selling, letting or renting a property, can leave a review of the branch and its staff.

The reviews are moderated and the site uses a five star rating. Customers can also request a free valuation from one or more selected agents.

Estate Agent Today road-tested the site over the weekend, submitting a wide range of postcodes to see agency reviews. Although there were many agents listed, there appeared to be only a tiny number of reviews.

CheckAnAgent.com is totally independent so there is no cost for agents to create a profile. Unlike some sites we don't require agents to link back to us or advertise our service on their website, but we do provide free marketing material if requested says Kevin Barton, a co-founder of the service.

Total copy of rateragent.co.uk but done badly. What's the point. Clearly they have just seen that rateragent are on to something.

Another online venture that is doomed to fail!

Yep, can't see this being the Tripadvisor of the property industry somehow. Seems too small-scale and obviously the number of reviews is not matching up to the number of agents.
