An estate agent remarried his former wife six days before dying of pancreatic cancer, it has been revealed.

Paul Dalton, founder of Daltons agency in Henley, married Linda for the second time last month; the couple first met in 1973 when he was a trainee agent in the town.

He set up his own business in the 1980s; the couple divorced in the early 1990s but neither married again.

Now the Henley Standard newspaper has revealed that Paul, 66, fell ill suddenly in September and needed help carrying out his daily activities. Mrs Dalton - then still divorced from him - stepped in to help and in the months that followed the pair rekindled their relationship and decided to remarry.

Their daughter is now running the business temporarily but has told the local paper that she is seeking a more suitable alternative solution.
