Greene & Co is the latest agency to move to a new office allowing the centralisation of functions such as accounts, property management, renewals, new homes, investments, marketing, human resources, financial services, IT and marketing, all under one roof.

Yesterday, EAT covered a similar move by Waterfords. Green & Co's new office is 9,000 square foot in size and in Maida Vale.

David Pollock, the firm's managing director, says with core departments under one roof our operations will be streamlined to save time and money, and improve collaboration between the teams.

Over the last two years Greene & Co has opened branches in Kensal Rise and the City and the company is also due to launch a new office in Kentish Town shortly. This will bring the total number of branches across London to eight, including its sister brand Urban Spaces in Clerkenwell.

Like you say, it might cost a little bit more, but estate agents are first and foremost there to offer a service to their customers. If the customers aren't happy, then a bit of cost-cutting becomes redundant anyway.

Yep, it works both ways. More efficiency is welcomed but if that comes at the cost of a less personal, hands-on approach, I don't think it's worth it.

We have over 700 managed properties from 4 branches. We did this and it made us more efficient BUT it increased customer complaints as Property Managers and Administrators didn't ever visit the property or meet the customer so they didn't create a relationship with them. It was a disaster! We reversed this decision and have completely reversed the level of complaints to lots of compliments for our personal, hands-on approach. So it costs more but we're retaining and building more business.
